Team joins in international celebration

Exceptional contributions by midwives across the Trust have been recognised in a special event today.

To mark the International Day of the Midwife, the Trust's busy maternity team were invited to nominate colleagues who go the extra mile. Together, each year the team helps deliver more than 2,000 babies to families in west Suffolk.

The nominations were announced in a special online event, organised by the Trust's professional midwifery advocate team and supported by our MyWiSH charity.

The successful nominations were:

  • Core midwife: Tamsin Wade
  • Community midwife: Trudi Goodall
  • Maternity care assistant: Jackie Cheek
  • Student midwife: Carrie Hibble
  • Ward clerk: Mollie Brown
  • Special award: Charlotte Fielder for all her hard work and support with the go live of the maternity electronic records system.

The event also included thank yous from mums cared for by the teams. All nominated staff will receive a copy of their citation to keep.

The professional midwifery advocate team is made up of experienced registered midwives who work within the department to support colleagues through building their personal and professional resilience, and particularly encourage them to advocate confidently for their patients.
