Children's services
We are the main provider of children’s services for the west Suffolk region. Together with children’s community services, we cater for a population of around 50,000 children. Our main aim is to provide all children and young people with safe and good quality care, ensuring that their stay in hospital is as short as possible.

The West Suffolk site has a dedicated children’s inpatient ward and Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) on the Rainbow ward. The Rainbow children’s outpatients service has blood testing facilities. Children’s care is linked to and jointly planned with health, education, social care and external agencies. There are also community nursing teams to provide care for children closer to home.
We have strong connections with other specialist children’s units such as Addenbrooke’s and the Norfolk and Norwich University hospitals.
