Car parking

As of Monday, 26 January 2026, the parking payment system at the West Suffolk Hospital (WSH) has changed to a completely barrierless system. This provides patients, staff, and visitors with less congestion on site, more flexible options for payment, and a more modern parking system. If you have any questions about the new parking payment system, please contact carparkingenquiries@wsh.nhs.uk. Find out more about the new car parking payment system.

This page explains parking options at West Suffolk Hospital, including where to park, charges, and how to pay.

Parking locations

West Suffolk Hospital provides designated car parks for patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Car Park A – located at the front of the hospital, this is the main car park for patients and visitors.
  • Car Park D – situated towards the rear of the site, this car park serves those visiting the Macmillan Unit, Day Surgery Unit, Eye Treatment Centre, and other departments.

Blue Badge holders

Parking for blue badge holders is free of charge when a valid blue badge is displayed. There are a number of designated parking spaces reserved for registered disabled drivers displaying a valid blue badge permit.

There are clearly signed bays for blue badge holders across the site, to enable disabled drivers to park closer to the part of the hospital they are visiting. A blue badge should be displayed in the vehicle at all times.

In order to validate free car parking they will need to scan the QR code on the back of their Blue Badge at one of the car parking payment machines, or they can register their Blue Badge with our car parking provider, UK CPM, via the following process:

  1. Email westsuffolknhsft@uk-cpm.com
  2. Include the name of the Blue Badge holder, the vehicle registration(s), the expiry date, and a picture of the blue badge
  3. UK CPM will register your details and you can enter and exit the site seamlessly

Up to three vehicles can be registered with one Blue Badge.

If you visit the West Suffolk Hospital site and your registration has not yet been processed, you will still need to scan the QR code on the back of your Blue Badge at one of the car parking payment machines.

When your Blue Badge expires, you will need to contact UK CPM to provide them with your new badge’s details.

Family Carers

Family Carers parking on the West Suffolk Hospital site will continue to collect a Carers Pack from the volunteers desk by the main hospital reception.

This will contain a voucher with a QR code, that you will need to scan at a parking payment machine before leaving the site. This means you will be able to enter and exit the site without being charged for up to 24-hours from your time of entry.

Car parking rates

The hospital uses a number plate recognition system for seamless entry and exit, eliminating the need for chip coins.

  1. Entry: vehicles are logged upon entry via automated cameras.
  2. Payment: visitors must use one of the car parking payment machines and enter their vehicle registration or the Sippi app. You can pay via the app up to 48 hours after you have exited the site. If you wish to pay by cash, please use the car parking payment machine located outside the Macmillan Unit.
  3. Exit: the West Suffolk Hospital is a barrierless site, so please drive out the exit ensuring you have paid at a parking payment machine, via the Sippi app, or within 48 hours of exiting the site via the app.
