Private care at West Suffolk Hospital

You can choose to pay for a range of procedures and specialisms as a private patient at West Suffolk Hospital.

We offer services for people wishing to pay for their own private care, arrange care using their private medical insurance, and patients from overseas travelling to the UK for treatment. Our private healthcare income is reinvested to support our NHS services.

Private healthcare may be more affordable than you think and is simple to access. See your GP, who will be able to advise and refer you, or ask about private treatment when you speak to your consultant.

Benefits

  • Avoid NHS waiting lists
  • Plan your treatment around your lifestyle and availability
  • Choose your own Consultant
  • Access on-site specialist medical services, diagnostic facilities, and emergency care
  • Competitive private practice charges
  • Reinvest into your local hospital through self-funded care

There are no dedicated private practice facilities at West Suffolk Hospital. Private care will be provided in the part of the hospital most suited to each patient’s medical needs.

Additional private care

You may choose to pay for additional private care for services or drugs the NHS does not fund. You will still be able to access NHS care and be treated as an NHS patient except in relation to the specific additional private care, which will be delivered separately.

When choosing to pay for additional private care, you will be classed as a private patient for that aspect of treatment only. You will not be charged for the rest of your NHS treatment and care.
