Therapy Focus Suffolk is a specialist service for children with cerebral palsy. Following a referral from the local therapy team, children receive targeted blocks of treatment from specialist physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.

Services we provide
Therapy Focus Suffolk (TFS) provides specialist assessment and treatment for children with cerebral palsy. Referrals are made in partnership with families, the child’s local therapy team and their paediatrician. This may be to address a specific difficulty or to plan the next steps in your child’s therapy.
Therapy Focus Suffolk sessions are delivered by a team of specialist professionals, including a speech and language therapist, physiotherapist and occupational therapist. Your child will see the therapists most appropriate to their needs at that time. The team works closely together throughout the week and with your local therapy team afterwards to make sure recommendations are carried forward.
When a referral is agreed, you and your local therapy team will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire. This helps us understand your child’s needs and priorities, so we can plan the most effective support.
All referrals are reviewed by the Therapy Focus Suffolk Referral Panel, who decide whether specialist input from TFS is appropriate and timely. Each case is considered carefully. If the referral is accepted, you and your child will be invited to attend either a week-long block or a three-day block of assessment and therapy.
Each session lasts about one and a half hours. At the end of the block, the team will discuss the outcomes with you and your local therapists. You will then receive a written summary and recommendations for your child’s ongoing therapy.

Therapy Focus Suffolk runs clinics throughout the year at three main locations:
- Bury Child Development Centre (CDC)
- Stowmarket Child Development Centre (CDC)
- Ipswich Child Development Centre (CDC) or Thomas Wolsey School, Ipswich
We aim to offer appointments as close to your home as possible. However, sometimes you and your family may need to travel to another centre for treatment. Please let us know if you have any difficulties with transport.
Please note, Therapy Focus Suffolk is unable to provide childcare for brothers or sisters during therapy sessions, so families will need to make alternative arrangements.
