We are extremely busy in our emergency department so please use our services wisely.  In emergency and life-threatening cases continue to come forward as normal or call 999.

However, if you are unsure about where to go, please call NHS 111 before coming to our emergency department who can best advise you on your next step.

Volunteering

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer in the NHS, whether it be to meet new people, fill some spare time, develop new skills, or give something back for the care you, your family or friends may have received.
We will always value the time you give to volunteering with us because you will be supporting our staff, patients and visitors, and making a difference to their experience across our Trust.

From Monday, 9 May 2022 we restarted our recruitment process for volunteers at West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community Hospital

There are various volunteer roles available in clinical and non-clinical areas in the hospitals, so if you are interested in applying to volunteer and would like more information about the volunteer roles, take a look at some of the different roles available here.

If you aged between 16-19 or a university/postgraduate student, please follow this link to apply through our student programme.

Applying to volunteer with us is quick and easy. Simply use the button below.
