We are extremely busy in our emergency department so please use our services wisely.  In emergency and life-threatening cases continue to come forward as normal or call 999. 

However, if you are unsure about where to go, please call NHS 111 before coming to our emergency department who can best advise you on your next step.

Nursing staffing level

We routinely publish information about the number of nursing and midwifery staff working on each ward and the percentage of shifts that meet safe staffing guidelines. This initiative is part of the NHS response to the Francis Report which called for greater openness and transparency in the health service.

Information is published monthly and included in the papers we discuss at our Trust Board meetings.

In addition we display posters for patients and visitors in all of our wards that show the planned and actual staffing available at the start of every shift.
