Stage 4: Develop a strategy and change ideas

Developing your change ideas in helps to answer the third question of the model for improvement: 'What changes can you make that will result in improvement?'. The tools outlined below will help you to develop your project plan (driver diagram), and choose which change ideas to prioritise.

Driver diagram

A driver diagram helps you to visualise your project plan, and the change ideas required to help you achieve your aim. We encourage you to use LifeQI to create your driver diagram as this keeps all your project work in one place, however if you would prefer to use a template first e.g. for visualising with stakeholders, access the template below.

PICK chart

Use the PICK chart template to assess your change ideas. This will help you identify which options are likely to deliver the greatest impact and value, while requiring the least difficulty and cost to implement.

Sustainability template

Use the sustainability template to help you consider the sustainability of your change ideas.
