This page explains what you should bring with you when you come into hospital. Packing the right items will help you stay comfortable during your visit.

Essential documents and medication
Please bring:
- your admission letter and any letters from your GP or consultant
- any medicines, tablets or inhalers you are currently taking
When you arrive, please give all medicines to the nurse in charge. Do not continue taking them unless a member of staff asks you to.
Personal items
You may want to bring:
- toiletries such as soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, flannel or sponge
- a hairbrush or comb
- a small mirror
- two sets of nightwear
- a dressing gown and slippers
- a few light daytime clothes if you are well enough to get up and about
There is limited storage space on the wards, so please only bring what you need. Suitcases and large bags cannot be stored at your bedside.
Entertainment and communication
We offer free Wi-Fi for patients.
You may wish to bring:
- a Wi-Fi enabled device such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop
- your charger and headphones
This will let you enjoy free TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, games and more.
Relatives and friends
You are welcome to bring a relative or friend with you to your appointment or when you are admitted.
