Community kindness to NHS "astounding" says our charity

Our Trust has seen amazing support from the community due to the coronavirus pandemic, so much so that our charity, My WiSH, felt it was imperative to start an appeal to centralise this generosity.

The Help Your NHS Hospital appeal was launched last week and Sue Smith, head of fundraising said: “The public have just been amazing and want to support the Trust’s hard-working staff. We have had offers of everything from weekly curry deliveries to bath bombs and, although these are all wonderful and generous, it’s really important people follow the government advice and stay at home.

“People’s well wishes are more than enough, but we’ve opened up an appeal for those people who have been kind enough to want to make a donation to support our incredible NHS staff at this challenging time.”

My WiSH Charity intends to use the funds to purchase items that will not only support patient care, but staff too. That could be everything from specific medical equipment to technology that allows isolated patient to keep in touch with their loved ones.

Sue added: “People’s generosity really has been astounding. We’ve obviously needed to postpone and cancel a lot of our events so we’re really pleased we can pool our efforts into joining up our community and NHS staff in this way. We’ve even had offers of accommodation for colleagues who are isolating away from their families. The kindness of the people of Suffolk is astounding. Thank you.”

If you wish to donate to support My WiSH Charity’s Help your NHS hospital appeal, you can do so my donating at www.justgiving.com/hynh or by donating by text to HYNH 5 to donate £5 or HYNH 10 to donate £10 to 70085.
