Services we provide
- Cataract - diagnosis and surgery to treat cloudy vision caused by cataracts.
- Corneal and external eye disease - care for conditions affecting the front surface of the eye, including infections, injuries and dry eye.
- Direct referrals - a service where opticians or GPs can refer patients straight to the eye clinic, without needing to go through other departments.
- Glaucoma -diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of glaucoma – a condition where pressure in the eye damages the optic nerve.
- Low vision aid - help for people with permanent vision loss, including advice and tools to make the most of remaining sight.
- Ocular motility- assessment and treatment of problems with eye movement, including double vision and misalignment.
- Oculoplastics and lacrimal - treatment for conditions affecting the eyelids, eye sockets and tear ducts, including droopy eyelids or blocked tear drainage.
- Ophthalmic photography - high-quality eye imaging to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Optometry - eye examinations and vision testing provided by optometrists, including prescribing glasses or contact lenses.
- Orthoptics - diagnosis and management of eye movement problems, especially in children, such as squint or lazy eye.
- Paediatric ophthalmology - eye care for babies and children, including testing for vision problems and treating childhood eye conditions.
- Retinal diseases - diagnosis and treatment for conditions affecting the retina, such as diabetic eye disease or age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Where to find us
We are located in the Eye Treatment Centre (in the Day Surgery Unit) at the back of West Suffolk Hospital.
All patients visiting the Eye Treatment Centre are required to check in at the Day Surgery reception desk on the ground floor.
