Dr Ewen Cameron qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge in 1995. He has worked in hospitals across the region including Addenbrooke’s, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Bedford, Ipswich and Hinchingbrooke hospitals as well as the three hospitals in Leicester.

He held the post of consultant gastroenterologist at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) from 2007 to 2023. Special interests include interventional endoscopy (endoscopic mucosal resection, stenting, balloon enteroscopy) and treatment of patients with late gastrointestinal effects of cancer treatments including pelvic radiotherapy. Dr Cameron undertook postgraduate research in inflammatory bowel disease in Cambridge (MD).

At CUH he held a number of clinical leadership positions including clinical lead for endoscopy, clinical director of the bowel cancer screening centre, divisional director for medicine, executive director of improvement and transformation (responsible for continuous improvement, productivity, IT and innovation) and interim chief operating officer.

In his spare time, Dr Cameron is a keen runner, hill walker and cricketer.
