Vascular surgery

Vascular surgery is the care and treatment of problems with your blood vessels.

Your blood vessels include your arteries and veins, which carry blood around your body. Our vascular surgery team treats diseases and blockages in these blood vessels. This can help prevent serious problems like strokes or loss of blood flow to your legs or feet.

We use tests, treatments and sometimes surgery to help keep your blood flowing properly.

Services we provide

Surgeons from Addenbrooke’s Hospital visit West Suffolk Hospital every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. They do operations, see patients on the ward, and run outpatient clinics.

If you need major artery surgery or more complex treatment that means you need to stay in hospital, this will happen at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

We also have two specialist doctors at West Suffolk who provide vascular interventional radiology. This is a type of care that uses scans and special tools to treat blood vessel problems with minimally invasive procedures.
