Occupational therapy: further support

If the young person is not making progress with the strategies and advice offered within the virtual offer, further support from the occupational therapy team can be requested.

This service is a short-term intervention service.

Details of how to seek further support will be sent to the child’s parents following completion of the virtual offer timeframe.

When further support is requested, a link to a questionnaire will be sent to parents. This questionnaire is designed for parents to complete in collaboration with their child’s school team (where applicable) and provide evidence of completion of the OT virtual offer.

Following review of the questionnaire, the occupational therapist may offer advice, recommendations or an OT-led workshop.

OT-led workshops focus on providing a range of practical strategies to support those attending to work in collaboration to create a programme for use at home and school.

Specialist units and schools can seek consultation, training and advice from the School Age Sensory Occupational Therapy team. This may include advice around the environment, resources, whole school sensory programmes, or staff training. Schools can request this support by emailing sensoryot@wsh.nhs.uk

Mainstream school teams can seek advice and training through SES services. Specialist Education Services – Suffolk Learning
