Join our four-day Pathology Summer School at West Suffolk Hospital and discover what it is like to work in NHS biomedical science.
If you have a strong interest in science and how the body works, this is a great chance to learn how laboratory science helps diagnose and treat patients. You will explore the world of biomedical science and pathology through practical activities, laboratory tours and interactive sessions with NHS professionals.

Who can apply
You can apply if you are:
- 17-18 years old
- moving into Year 13 (the summer after Year 12)
- studying, or planning to study, a T Level or similar qualification in biomedical science
- interested in studying biomedical science or pathology at university
Please note: this Summer School is primarily aimed at students going into Year 13 in September 2026. Students going into Year 12 may be considered if places are available.
What you will learn
During the Summer School you will:
- tour the hospital and pathology laboratories
- join interactive learning activities
- experience virtual reality tours
- take part in quizzes and group discussions
You should aim to attend all four sessions to complete the course.
Students who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of attendance, which may support personal statements and future applications.
Session times
The four-day course runs from Tuesday 21 July to Friday 24 July 2026 at the following times:
- Tuesday: 10am to 3.15pm
- Wednesday: 9.30am to 3.15pm
- Thursday: 9.30am to 3.15pm
- Friday: 9.30am to 2pm
