Vascular surgery

Vascular surgery is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the arteries, veins and lymphatics anywhere in the body, excluding the cardiac (see cardiology) and intracranial (see neurology) circulation. Arterial conditions include diseases that cause the narrowing or blockage of the arteries, resulting in the reduced blood supply to part of the body.

Services provided

Surgeons from Addenbrooke's Hospital visit West Suffolk on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to perform an operating list, ward round and outpatient clinic. All major arterial surgery and other complex work requiring in-patient care is undertaken in Addenbrooke's, Cambridge.

Vascular interventional radiology is provided by two full-time vascular radiologists based at West Suffolk.
