Patient information

Our operating theatres cover a wide range of surgical specialities. Each has its own team of theatre staff skilled in their respective specialities; all play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the operating theatres. Our main goal is ensuring the best possible quality of care for all patients coming to theatres.

As well as surgeons and anaesthetists the team includes any combination of the following:

  • Registered nurses
  • Operating department practitioners
  • Assistant theatre practitioners
  • Health care support staff.

The department facilitates a Diploma of Higher Education Operating Department practice training programme undertaken in conjunction with University of Suffolk. In addition, registered nurse training and valuable placement of other health care professionals take place within the complex.
