Anaesthetics

The anaesthetic department provides a comprehensive service to our patients at West Suffolk Hospital. Overall we are involved in the care of over 50% of hospital patients working closely with colleagues from other departments.

A consultant led team is involved in all aspects of care for surgical patients, from pre-assessment and pre-operative preparation through to the post-operative recovery period. In addition, some of our consultants are responsible for the care of patients in the intensive care unit and a dedicated multidisciplinary acute pain team supervises the provision of post-operative pain relief.
