Endoscopy

Our care pathways have changed, both to safeguard patients from exposure to Covid-19 and due to the demands placed on services in treating those affected by the disease. To view our current waiting times please click here (last updated 18 May 2021).

Please continue to refer to endoscopy in the usual way.

There are around 1300 patients waiting for Endoscopy, with some patients more than 30 weeks.

We are currently only able to utilise 2 out of our 3 Endoscopy Scoping rooms and due to air exchange guidance in these rooms, we are limited to around 70% of previous capacity.

Evening and weekend lists are being added to assist with the backlog of patients waiting.

Business cases are being developed for other options for additional capacity

Surveillance patients are being seen as close to their due date as possible.

Patients are being booked in priority order, and Rapid Access and STT pathways are being followed as closely as possible, but if you would like to amend the priority of a referral for a patient please phone: 01284 712748 to speak to the Appointments Facilitators.
