Working from home
In line with government guidance, more people from our Trust are now beginning to work from home.
This may be the first time you are working from home. In order to log in and have access to your emails and network drives, there are some steps you must take.
In the first instance, please check with your manager first to see whether it is necessary or appropriate for you to work from home under the current NHS guidance.
We are aware that many of you will be keen to understand how you will be able to access the digital solutions that you use every day if it is necessary for you to work from home. The following describes the process that should be followed for hospital staff – a separate community update will be issued as soon as possible, as we are working on troubleshooting the specific community issues.
If you are not currently set up to work from home
-
Click here to access a remote access request form and complete all sections (including a personal mobile phone number) so we can contact you. The form asks what systems you wish to access and will help inform us as to the best route to set you up with remote access
-
Email the form to IT.servicedesk@wsh.nhs.uk
-
The team will triage your request and will make arrangements to support you through getting set up. The team will tell you what you need to do.
-
We are setting up help hubs to support staff. You might be asked to attend the help hubs although we will try to help as many people as possible virtually. You should not attend the help hub on an ad hoc basis, but will be allocated a timed slot.
-
You will be given guides and top tips to help you. We will also set up a dedicated IT helpline for people working from home.
There are walkthrough videos
now available on Youtube to help you get set up with remote access. They can be found here.
If you are already set up to work from home
If you are already set up to work from home but have not used your computer for some time, or forgotten the process to log on, please contact the IT helpdesk on their external number: 01284 713888 for support. They can reset passwords, remind you of the process and send you guides.
If you are already set up to work from home and use this routinely hopefully you should be OK. If, however, you do experience any problems please contact the IT helpdesk.
Home working data protection guidance
Once you have remote access, please view the intranet for full information regarding information governance for working from home.
Priority access
As you can imagine we have had unprecedented demand from teams and individuals that want to get set up for remote working as soon as possible.
For this reason we need to introduce some prioritisation. We are working with the executives and clinical leaders to agree that priority list.
Please do not ring the IT helpdesk to chase your request. The majority of IT staff have been asked to focus on this but we will still need you bear with us while we address the demand.
If you are working from home and need to contact the IT department, the external number for the IT helpdesk is 01284 713888.
