Information and help for the bereaved during the coronavirus pandemic
To help protect people in the best way possible, some changes have been made to how funerals are managed during the coronavirus response.
The grieving process and related formal and informal rituals are important for the health and wellbeing of those who have been bereaved.
Nationally, some guidance has been shared by Public Health England to balance the need of the bereaved to mourn appropriately, whilst minimising the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
This guidance has been developed to ensure that:
- bereaved people are treated with sensitivity, dignity and respect
- mourners and workers involved in the management of funerals are protected
