Introduction

A well established volunteering culture exists within the West Suffolk Hospital; staff welcome volunteers into their wards and departments on a daily basis and our volunteers are a very valued and integrated part of our hospital team. Volunteers help to make life easier for our patients and their families; they support our staff in providing a direct service to patients or by helping out in non-clinical areas. Our volunteers are complementary to the role of our paid staff.

Our Trust Executive Board welcomes the involvement of people from our local community in this way and we are very grateful for the support, dedication and commitment of our hospital volunteer team.
