Clinical Audit

Clinical audit is a key component of clinical governance and offers the greatest potential to assess the quality of care given to our patients and should therefore be at the heart of clinical practice. It is a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through systematic review of care against explicit standards and the implementation of change.

Clinical audit at West Suffolk Hospital is delivered through formulation of an annual Trustwide audit programme, participation in national audit projects, advising and supporting clinical and non-clinical staff in audit methodology and design, and providing formal training as part of the Trust’s education prospectus.
