NHS Foundation Trust

Be part of a healthy future

West Suffolk Hospital has been awarded NHS Foundation Trust status, giving it greater independence and more freedom to develop services tailored to the needs of local people.

The announcement was made on 30 November 2011 by independent regulator Monitor after the Trust demonstrated excellent performance in delivering quality services and ensuring patient safety, sound financial management and robust plans for the future.

In authorising the Trust (from 1 December 2011) Monitor’s board has flagged two issues the organisation will need to focus on: delivering a challenging cost savings programme while maintaining and improving the quality of care delivered; and the development and implementation of its future strategy.

Patients, carers, local people, partner organisations and staff will all be actively engaged in helping West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust to deliver high quality and efficient healthcare services.
