Publication Scheme

Introduction

This Publication Scheme is a guide and description of the information that is routinely published by Trust and made publically available. We shall review the Scheme at regular intervals and monitor how it is operating.

the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has introduced a model publication scheme and a Health Sector Definition document (see links below| ); both of these have been adopted by this Trust.

Our publication scheme is divided into the following sections:

Patient confidentiality

The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) does not change the right of patients to protection of their patient confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act, common law and Article 8 of the Human Rights Convention.

Maintaining the legal right to the patient confidentiality continues to be an important commitment on our part.  The Trust Caldicott Guardian, Mr Dermot O'Riordan (Medical Director), has the responsibility to ensure the protection of patient confidentiality throughout the Trust in accordance with your legal rights.
